OTT 2013 -Day 2 Results

Getting a lot of texts from exhausted but happy tournament goers. Great to see that there were so many new players at the event. Congratulations to the tournament organisers for a job well done for another year. Last I heard everyone was picking up their prizes with their tournament vouchers.

The final results are in but I won't jump the gun by announcing the results until the TO's have done themselves. Heres a taste of what happened going into the last round of the tournament.

At the top of the field for Warhammer fantasy we had Ogres, Warriors, Chaos Dwarves and Vamps battling it out. The results were very surprising...

For 40K there was a whole lotta Necrons, Daemons at the top of the field.

OTT 2013 day 1

Late news from the first day with 4 games to play for both WHFB & WH40K.

The forces of chaos is dominating the standings end of game 4.

Ryan    Warriors of Chaos

Will      Ogres

Leading a very close pack with VC & more Ogres following close behind.

Interesting first round matches saw an Ogre Deathstar get dwarfed, VC's were Wood Elf'd and more Dwarfing to some Elves.

More details to come hopefully tomorrow. boys must be knackered after a four game day.

OTT 2013, Hamilton this weekend.

OTT the tournament to goto in February is on again this year. In fact it's this coming weekend in Hamilton. With a selection of Warhammer, Warmachine and Flames of War it usually attracts a good selection of Auckland travellers and a good base of players from the Waikato. I was lucky enough to go down last year and really enjoyed the nice relaxed atmosphere. This year I unfortunately can't make it due to work commitments but will be following the progress with the help of this new fan-dangle thing the internets so stay tuned over the next few days for regular updates.

Khorne Icon

I finally after many years of looking found the original Khorne Icon that made me first go yes Warriors, jubilation! You can find it in the Hordes of Chaos army book and in it's grey not so recognisable form (not to worry the unit is far from finished) in the photo below. Coming across it just as the new Warriors of Chaos army book is released means fate must be telling me something.

Jackson pollock meets warhammer. That Khorne Icon just is the coolest shite! Unit is about 60% finished paint wise.

More flying choppy Smurfs on the painting table and they have their first coats and transfers. I found that batch painting the base colours got me over the hump that kept these guys bare for so any years. More details and highlights will be added later.

Some old weapons sprues and odd bits made perfect basing material for the Assault marines. It'll be a consistent theme throughout the army I feel.

**Sorry about my camera guys. They actually do look way less washed out in person and on the table.

Board Game of the Week: Evo

An oldie but a classic family game. The Dinosaurs last ditch before the imminent ice age. Easy to learn for 3-5 players and should take about an hour to get a game in. You take your Dinosaur and through evolutionary niches survive or wreck havoc on your neighbouring Dinos for territorial dominance.

Rating. 4 stars of family fun out of 5.

Vegas Dice:

Another quick and fast dice game. Area control with the most dollars at the end champion. Perfect for a filler in between two epic board games.

Rating 3.5 out of 5 Stars.

Smurf mobiles are go

Working to get a fully painted 40K force on the table so I tackled some tanks for the Ultra Marines this week. Working with some watered down paints really helped the process. I've got a Pred, Whirlwind, Land Raider, and Vindicator to go.Not so intimidating after getting these two under the belt (table top anyway).

Boardgame of the Week: Zombicide.

Had a wicked game of this fast paced action thriller with a half dozen of us. Easy to pick up and good zombitastic action throughout. Will be testing more of the scenarios both online and provided with the game in the following weeks. If anyone is in Auckland and is interested we'll be playing it regularly on a Sunday so get in touch. The more the merrier. 

Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars.

New Warriors of Chaos kits are out. Colour me Fanboi'd! I especially like these boys, which will be great for conversions.

Whats on the work table

Stern guard with a few licks of paint.

Quite happy how these turned out. GW white is perfect for the imperfect helmet look. Still need a bit more work but table worthy. 

Thanks to Mike for hooking me up with a vintage Cauldron on blood. I haven't been this excited about the prospect of starting a new army for a while.

Possible new project for 2013.
