Ogre Blood Bowl team WIP

Have been caught up in the hype of imminent release of the new release of Blood bowl (due around Dec). I have spare Ogres and went about converting them for another team for the hobby.

The starting team of 4 Ogres and a mass of Snotlings (using Gnoblars)

A few Arm repositions and also a fair bit of sculpting with milliput.

I am quite partial to this as the 5th Ogre.

Thats a complete resculpt and it's begun.

Not too bad for a nights work.

Whats in da Gaming hood

So much gaming going on, and real life that I haven't posted much recently. I laugh as I've been told some gnat has been spreading the word that I'm getting out of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. From the Horses mouth the game is strong as it every was and we have recently picked up about 7 new players at our local club. So nah gnat you've got it wrong :) Enjoying the variety of systems that are out there and here's some of the stuff I've got on the hobby table.

It's a giant and yes I'm a hobbyist first yo.

The unit of ogres I fired together out of spare bits on the way to 1000pts for our
local WHFB League. currently have 24 playing which busted the 20spaces we initially had space for. Apologies to the guys on the wait list but the club has to cater space for other systems too.
Sculpted a head for second hand Skragg. Also picked up a Hunter too from a swap meet.
Best way to get into the game if you're new or a vet. So much cheaper than retail.
Zapped together some random markers for my Bloodbowl.
Managed to pick up a new faction.
I was lucky enough to pick up Alexia and the risen too. 50pts complete!
Some spare bits and that meant I could develop more of my minimal sculpting skills.
 Here's the 85% WIP.

Thats a quick friday blog. I'll finish off the ETC blogging with results
and a few other tidbits. Enjoy your weekend.

Tournament Army Prep : Equinox

Big tournament coming up next weekend 'Equinox', requires a big army. My Ogres (Fatties) will be bringing up the numbers. We're at odd numbers so if I am required to play this will be the army you'll face. I won't be eligible for prizes so expect me to play a very friendly hobby based list. I've just textured and flocked the display board and semi finished the diorama's. Some quick finishing touches will have to be speed me thinks before next weekend.

We will be hosting a nice good number of hobbists over the weekend.
There will be some serious fun games of Hammer time going down.
Here's the Wargamers just for the WHFB tournament.
If your name isn't here and should be, email me.

Club Day & Hobby stuff for the past coupla weeks

Auckland Anniversary weekend and lotsa hobby was had. Club was open on Sunday and with many away we had a quiet day with 36 Gamers enjoying some  WHFB, X-wing, Attack Wing, and Board games. Always good to blow out some steam with some cool games.

Also gave me a good opportunity to wheel out my Ogre army. An ol'Dwarf strolled out of his hold to grudge the Ogre hoard and it was all on. Great game had against Levi's Dorfs and a good intro to see how the Ogres would fare. It worked out pretty good actually.

Collection is getting bigger
 Main unit of Ironguts
 The Firebelly's unit
My Stand in Sabretusks...Simba, Pumba and Timone :)

So the reason for picking up Ogres was because there were just too many new players coming to club with High Elves. I missed the ol pointy ears and had to bring them out for a casual game mid week. Thanks to James and Dave for letting me bring out the Elves that had been packed away for ages. 8th ed is bloody cool and we had a few superb games before breaking out some X-Wing.

Dragon Prices/Silverhelms.

 Dave's Khornate Knights.

100pts of Death that I don't know how to use.

Club Day was pretty relaxed and cool. Great to say hello to a few newuns and great to welcome them to the club.
 Lee's Defenders wreaking mayhem.
Firebelly unsettles the Dorf Lord in a challenge!
 Dble Falcon goodness
 Ogre Foooodddddd :P
 Too many pointy ears!!!

First few games of the Year (Just got back from holiday)

Holidays are great and I spent the last couple of weeks zooming around the country visiting family. It was great to catch games in Wellington, New Plymouth and Wanganui along the way. Apologies to the guys in Rotorua and the Hawkes Bay as I didn't manage to get out that way. There's always Equinox and NatCon to catch up for games guys :)

So just back in Auckland and I managed to catch a few games on the last holiday weekday of the trip. Expect more content and Email contact now as I'm back in Broadband range again.

Space Hulk - Such superb miniatures and quality components.
Good game too.
 'Battle of the three armies.'
800pts each of Ogres, High Elves and Gobbo's bashed it out.
Prepping for 'Arch Enemy' next Saturday.

D&D attack wing. Very distinct game and Dragons galore!

So many games in such a short time - So bloody good!!
(X-Wing and Board games was had toooooo!!!)

X-Wing Wave 5 & OGRE WIP

Wave 5 ships dropped in for X-wing about a couple of weeks ago. Everyone seems to have incorporated them into their Squads. So last night I managed a game against 2 Decimators sporting all the new fandangles. It was a brutal list with 24 hull and 8 shields all up. I really liked how the list played and it wasn't OP at all but a very solid list. Their inability to evade gives you ample opportunity to blat them to oblivion. Now that Dash YT2400 with Leebo is another story altogether (what a top combo).

I will be piloting my Rebels much more this upcoming year so if anyone is keen for my unopened Decimator give me a yell here or via Email.

Managed some more colour on the Ogre army. At this rate I might have a table top ready force just after the new year. Suggestions on what I should have for an overall look for the bases would be helpful and very welcome. At the moment I'm thinking highlight progressive grey and then snow flock.

Bit of a slight fix to the BSB standard and the difference of  what teeth make.

On the Painting table & Club day

Must keep blogging to inspire the painting. Progress has been very slow. Etched out some painting to the Ogres and now have a second unit with a front rank coloured down. The more colour they get the more inspired I get with the hobby. Must finish army before the New year rolls around.

Front rank of the second unit of Ironguts.
Tyrant, Slaughtermaster and Bruiser in the second rank.

Maneaters recylced from my old Chaos Ogres.
Almost happy with them.

So some progress over the last few weeks. I've had too much other stuff on and of course X-Wing has taken a lot of painting time away :)

Club Day Sunday saw a big turnout for our club X-Wing Aces Tourney. 32pt Furballs meant we hosted 14 pilots. With a host of other games being played including WHFB, WH40K, and lots of board Games. We had a total of 43 gamers enjoying a fun relaxed Sunday of hobbies.

If you're a Gamer/Hobbyist and want to get some games in with fellow like minded individuals. Get on down to our club. We welcome everyone and this weekend we are likely to see WHFB, WH40K, X-Wing, Board Gaming, Warmachine and a whole lot more.

New Tyranids and Ogre Kingdoms WIP

Some more new Tyranids are up this weekend and here is the sneak peek at them for ya. The bugs get their own droppies and they look pretty rad!

Also some new goodies from Forge world.

Ogre Kingdoms are on my painting table currently. Trying to make it as quick as possible so they are table top ready. I've had a few games with them and they play very nicely if not just a little too one dimensionally vs my favoured High Elf army. My club has recently had a huge influx of High elf armies with new players. This is great but also means I'm going to use different armies to break up the same ol.

 Brilliant sculpt.

This is the WIP on the Ironblaster that was missing its cannon.
I made an appropriate Cannon to replace it :)
Not your usual unit in a Ogre army but I really like the look of them.
They are in even though they are not so flash game wise.
