ANZAC Weekend games

Club Sunday was active with 28 peeps still in town over the long weekend to enjoy some relaxing games. We had a big variety of games going and I got lost in some X-wing team games. Good to see a couple of new faces and also to welcome back one of our club pilots from a long work holiday.

Good bunch of relaxed gamers.
Three 100pt lists go head to head on one map.
Volley & Bayonet at club again.
If you want to check it out we have spare armies and are happy to show you how it works.
Auckland Blood Bowl league play regularly at club.

Good selection of board games again this Sunday.

With the ANZAC day diorama happening this year a bunch of us helped paint some of the 4000+ figures used in the massive visage. Along with many clubs and individuals around the country it was a big push to get them to their destination in Wellington. Frank and I did a big painting session to get them ready at local retailer Hobbymaster who also helped and supported the cause.

Peter Jackson and the Perry brothers oversee the final stages of the construction of the diorama.
I'll be heading to Wellington in the next few weeks to check it all out and will have more photo's then.

Attended my first Store Champs as a competitor.
Competition was very tight and I got a great result by the skin of my teeth.
Excellent bunch of  pilots made the afternoon relaxed and enjoyable.

Got a bunch of old skool metal high elves from a mate.
Slowly making progress on them and they are beaut.
Really enjoying getting the hobby going in my spare time.

Club Sunday

Quiet meet at club this Sunday past, hosting 28 people. Auckland Open was rollicking along at Remuera and those of us unable to attend made do with games at our regular Sunday club meet from 1-5pm.

We've had a few questions over several social media sites about our Sunday club. If you are in Auckland and looking at getting some board Gaming or Table top Wargaming in, then our regular Sunday club is open. We welcome everyone and all games so visit our facebook page and post up your interests.

Good to see some familiar faces coming back out for games.

Last of the summer sun sees some gaming outside on the deck.
 Hammer time in the Sun.
Board games and more board games.
Bigger selections have been seen at club.Oh so many games.
This is what 200pts of epic Imperials look like.
Such a different meta when you raise the points slightly.

New wood elves seen on the horizon.
 Nurgle Marines.
 Auckland Open in Remuera.
Looks brilliant.

Gaming about

So here's what I've been up to recently. Pretty much gaming about really.

Blood Bowl : My Hummies (Jaffaheim Boneheads) vs Matt's Gobbo's (Unsportsmanlike conduct)

Laced with Secret weapons the Gobbos was in it to stab it (4 Stabby weapons in the team). With the receive won the match was on like Donkey kong for the Green skins! The Fanatic with the 'Ball n Chain' practically danced a circular jig trying to bowl over my Ogre and finally managed it on the second go for it. The Chain Saw wielding Gobbo decided to drop the saw on himself and I was pretty lucky that the only injury for that turn was to my Lineman who decided to fake an injury too well all the way for the rest of the game.

The disadvantage of trying to maim the other team is that you forget about the ball. So the Hummies after escaping certain horrific decapitation quickly ran the unattended ball in for the first Touch down. This turn of events must of been hard on Gobbo moral and they decided to roll 1's at important intervals for the rest of the half. Hummies 2 Gobbo's 0 at the half way hooter.

The second half presented a great opportunity to give the ball to the hummies and see them brain fart. They pretended to be a better agile and faster team and realised they weren't. After running down the side line hoping for more speed the Hummie Blitzer ran out of steam, got surrounded by gobbo's and thumped into the turf. The resulting miracle quadruple bounce off a melee of players dropped it clear for the eventual 3rd Touch down for a lucky lineman. This 3rd miracle grow score encouraged more Gobbo's to fail their dodge rolls and the hard turf claimed 2 Gobbo deaths. At this point the Gobbo coach was seen walking to a nearby microwave ready to discipline some dice...

So the Jaffa's after scoring some butt lucky triple TD's decided that they'd try the pass game. Say what... Yup, final play of the game Blitzer clears the lane, 2nd blitzer zooms down field and a beautiful throw is caught to be run in uninterrupted for the 4th score of the game. The Jaffaheims aren't suppose to be able to play like this, but I'll bank it. Thank you Matt and you were a scholar and gent through all those horrible rolls you had for the game. Hummies win 4 zippo, yuss.

Imperial Assault: We've got a group of gents casually treading through the campaign. It's cool!

We're about slightly half way through it and it's a total recommend.

Jeremy scores the group a second set. Jammy bastard :p

X-Wing miniatures:  5 Interceptors is a thing right.
My dead 100pt list attests to it being the thing.

Bring on 9th Edition!!

NatCon 2015 at James Cook

This Easter NatCon was run in Auckland and ACG Club had the privilege to host 9 systems and a whole lot of board gamers over 3 sumptuous days. That's some serious gaming in anyone's terms and it was glorious. There were travelers from as far as Australia and many of New Zealand's top gamers gathered to compete in one of the oldest established tournaments in the country. The venue was massive and even with 130+ gathered over the weekend there was still a huge amount of space left if we want to expand on the competition next time.

Competitions held over the weekend were : Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Warhammer 40K, Fields of Glory Napoleonic, Fields of Glory AM, Flames of War, De Bellis Renationis, De Bellis Multitudinis, DBA, and X-Wing Miniatures.

Some of the Historical players prepare to get underway.
The hall hums with many games on the first day.

Here's some of the Photo's of the competition winners.
