X-Wing Games night plus D&D.

Wednesday night of casual games. Pretty close to where I live so went down for a gander with a few of the boys. It was store games kit night and we had a good lil turnout of 8 fella's getting some X-Wing done. Both Hen and Geoff made it so there was going to be some swish flying tonight.

Pretty relaxed and friendly group.
 There were lotsa varied lists.
My out of the box special was prolly the only repeat list there.

Corran and Wedge combine to take out Whisper.

Got my first victory over Hen & Geoff tonight and picked up some bling.
That Darth medal is minty fresh and I'll be flying a Falcon at a place near you very soon.
Big ups for Geoff to swing a squad together for James.
Another pilot joins the fray.
Good gathering of D&D players too.
Toby promises that he'll come to Club and DM some games soon.

Club Day & Hobby stuff for the past coupla weeks

Auckland Anniversary weekend and lotsa hobby was had. Club was open on Sunday and with many away we had a quiet day with 36 Gamers enjoying some  WHFB, X-wing, Attack Wing, and Board games. Always good to blow out some steam with some cool games.

Also gave me a good opportunity to wheel out my Ogre army. An ol'Dwarf strolled out of his hold to grudge the Ogre hoard and it was all on. Great game had against Levi's Dorfs and a good intro to see how the Ogres would fare. It worked out pretty good actually.

Collection is getting bigger
 Main unit of Ironguts
 The Firebelly's unit
My Stand in Sabretusks...Simba, Pumba and Timone :)

So the reason for picking up Ogres was because there were just too many new players coming to club with High Elves. I missed the ol pointy ears and had to bring them out for a casual game mid week. Thanks to James and Dave for letting me bring out the Elves that had been packed away for ages. 8th ed is bloody cool and we had a few superb games before breaking out some X-Wing.

Dragon Prices/Silverhelms.

 Dave's Khornate Knights.

100pts of Death that I don't know how to use.

Club Day was pretty relaxed and cool. Great to say hello to a few newuns and great to welcome them to the club.
 Lee's Defenders wreaking mayhem.
Firebelly unsettles the Dorf Lord in a challenge!
 Dble Falcon goodness
 Ogre Foooodddddd :P
 Too many pointy ears!!!

How to get started painting miniatures & Imperial assault

Once we get started in the hobby it's easy to forget that it was quite a challenge to get information on how and where to start in the distant beginning. I've always been on the look out for decent tutorials to recommend to new comers to painting. So I was pretty happy to have found three very useful guides on the tube for you guys who want to start out in the hobby. Conveniently it is also painting the 'Star Wars - Imperial Assault' game that has hit the shelves around the world recently. In NZ we are still waiting for more available stock but it's been confirmed that our local retailer has sourced it and will have it at under $100nz in a week or so.

Here's the Painting tutorials. Many thanks to Sorastro for putting them together. These techniques can easily be transferred to whatever project you put your mind to. From other board game miniatures to table top wargames, all these simple techniques will work.

Don't forget to check this out on shelves now.

Arch Enemy Photo's

Thanks again to our sponsors for their help with Arch Enemy.
The tournament was run as a casual event to start you back up for the Hobby this year. Everyone that came seemed to have adopted the attitude quickly. Fair play and fun was the order of the day. As a result we had a great feel around the hall and everyone looked like they were having fun.

Frank takes out the WHFB tournament.

Pascal is back with Blood angels.

There were some very nice terrain pieces at the tournament.

Dug in, the guard provide a hail of fire.

Timone takes it for the team and diverts the Dwarf throng.

There were some very well painted mini's at the event.
Looking forward to the tournament season for more inspiring armies.
